Egypt in Focus

The 2011 EGYPT IN FOCUS  competition was a great success as we had 84 entries.

The winners were announced at the annual Egyptography Awards Dinner held at the gallery on the 20th April. 

The overall winner of the competition was Morland Smith for his photograph, Giza Rider.  The landscape award was shared by David Sargeant and Jock Muir as was the portrait award by Merise Hocking and Carol Vaughan.  Clive addison, Robert Strzelecki and Carrol Dunford all were recognised for highly commended landscape.  Tania Stamatis and Carrol Dunford were chosed for highly commended portrait photographs.

The award night was a great success again and was enjoyed by all those who came. 

 The judges were Lyn Whitfield-King, Grand Master photographer and Judith Hugo, Art Curator of the Central Institute of Technology Art Collection (Central TAFE).

Overall Winner: “Giza Rider” by Morland Smith

Landscape Winners: “Fisherman” by Jock Muir and “Alexandria Library Roof” by David Sargeant

Portrait Winners: “Companionship” by Carol Vaughan and “Rhythm” by Merise Hocking

People’s Choice Award: “Serving Coffee” by Clive Addison
